Tahini traditionally associated with our snack time staple, hummus, and comes from toasted ground sesame seeds. However you don’t have to limit your use of tahini to making your own hummus, as it’s also a key ingredient of our Choco Cherry Smoothie and here is why!

Tahini is full of essential polyunsaturated fats which help reduce bad cholesterol, and contains very small amounts of monounsaturated and saturated fats – the bad ones you want to avoid! It also boasts a number of different phenolic compounds like linoleic acid which act as antioxidants, and amino acids lice lysine or tryptophan which help boost metabolism. And to top it all off it’s 20% is protein! No bad eh?

This smoothie is packed with gorgeous tahini and is great if you are looking to improve your skin,  boost nutrient absorption and get an extra protein-kick!

1 medium banana
1 tbsp of tahini
150 ml of almond milk
15 g of raw cocoa or Organic dark chocolate
1 tbsp of honey/ agave nectar
70 g of pitted cherries
A pinch of linseed seeds


  1. Peel the banana and open your cherries to remove the pit.
  2. Together with the tahini, almond milk, cocoa and honey blend this and poor it in a glass.
  3. Add some extra fibre by sprinkling the linseed seeds on top of it.
